About Ya Girl

Hello there and welcome!

For those of you reading who don’t already know, I’m Emily. Nice to virtually meet ya! I’m a college student in my early twenties with a love for traveling, a passion for storytelling, and an enthusiasm for every and any experience I can get my hands on!

I started this blog because, to put it simply, I was burnt out from ‘adulting’; I was killing myself studying to earn a degree I wasn’t even sure about, I was working two jobs that I hated, and I was never, and I mean never, doing the things that actually made me happy.

“What makes you happy”, you ask? I’ll tell ya.

What makes me happy is getting completely lost in a really, really good book. What makes me happy is translating the thoughts and ideas swirling around in my head into words and putting them onto paper. What makes me happy is booking a spontaneous flight to somewhere I’ve never been and exploring the heck out of it. What makes me happy are game nights with my family and friends that are now family. What makes me happy is watching the sunrise on the beach in an over-sized sweater with a cup of hot coffee in my hand. What makes me happy is star gazing and walks in a park and meeting new people and laughing and learning and loving and living.

Basically, this blog holds me accountable; it holds me accountable for slowing down, enjoying the life I’ve been given,  and for making time to do the things that give me happiness.

You might like some of the things I write about, or you might hate them all. You might visit my page just to be nosy, or you might visit because you genuinely care for what I have to say. You might click on a link to one of my posts just to scowl at my photos, or you might get excited when you see I’ve posted something new.

Either way, I would like to warmly welcome you to the inside of my mind.

I hope you enjoy your stay, however brief or long it may be!
